WIP Wednesday!!

A Work In Progress Wednesday! It's been a long time since I've posted!! Here is what I am currently working on.....

I recently finished these socks. I love making kids socks they go so fast! These are for my almost 6yo. Actually, they are dirty, he wore them today with his rain boots! His favorite color is green and he picked out the yarn for both these projects.

This is a hoodie sweater for Kylan with a Roo pocket (is that what it's called?) It is knit in the round which is my favorite. I can't even tell you how many times I have redone this project. I am not a perfectionist, but I'm trying hard to not just leave mistakes because I'm impatient and want to finish as fast a possible!! Kylans 6th birthday is coming up and he somehow is under the impression I am making him a quilt for his birthday, so I really need to finish this and start the quilt!!! What are you working on?

WIP Wednesday!!

It's been a while since I've posted on WIP (work-in-progress) Wednesday!

I don't know why this picture would only load sideways?? It a super soft blanket for a friend who is due with a baby boy in about a month! I made it with this inexpensive cotton boucle yarn from Knit Picks, called Crayon, and I LOVE it! I was a little apprehensive about ordering cheap yarn without seeing and feeling it first, but it's what the original pattern called for. I love working with the yarn and I'm going to be ordering more!

Kylan told me he wanted to give Everest a knit snake for his 2nd birthday (in June). The finished snake I knit a couple years ago for Kylan:)

I finished Kylans sweater vest, he loves it! He wore it today and kept telling people 'look at my sweater vest, my mommy made it" it was too cute!!!

So that's it for now. I've been dreaming of getting my sewing machine out, but I don't have a great place to set it up & that makes it easy to keep dreaming about...

little sweater vest

I am lovin this pattern! It was fairly quick and easy and I really like how it turned out! I used an organic wool, baby alpaca, silk blend, so it is supper soft. Everest loves it but refused to put a long sleeve shirt on first:) I am about half done with Kylans vest too:)
I found the buttons at a local antique store, I used three different style buttons all made from wood.

I used this pattern-

WIP Wednesday!! (on thursday, again)

work-on-progress Wednesday
...late again, wed has proved to be a hard day to post, it's Geoffs Friday and homemade pizza and ice cream night...and often a little wine and music, so I don't usually get online:)

Thick slipper socks...a Valentine present for Geoff:)

Kylan had a naked doll and wanted clothing for it, it is actually a lot easier than I thought it would be, even without a pattern. The pants are made from an old sweater cut up and hand stitched, very simple. The doll on the left had a button on his sweater that already fell off while K was playing with him.
When I was done with Kylans doll, Everest handed me his doll and said 'knit', so I'm working on his:) K has already requested doll PJ's so maybe that will be next:) I am still dreaming of these lovely Waldorf dolls for them...

sweater of my dreams...

I just read the story of Yuri's New Sweater on Farmama's Blog, check it out! I don't even know how to spin wool yet, but someday I dream of sheering, processing, spinning, dying and knitting a sweater. It's odd, I have these deep urges to do such things, I don't always understand why, but it just seems amazing to me...

WIP Wednesday!!

It's Work-in-progress Wednesday!
I have some catching up to do, since I haven't posted WIP for the last few weeks-
This first picture is of the sweater vest I was working on when I went out of town. I eventually decided I didn't like the way the yarn looked and tore it out. Something about the sheen of the yarn or something, so I need to find a replacement so I can start over. It's cold outside!

I started some lil socks with this beautiful self-striping yarn. I LOVE the colors and want socks for myself made out of this!!!

And then there are bonnets... I love making these 'Lyra Caps', multiple strands of big fat yarn and big needles make for a very quick project! Kylan really wants one, he picked out brown and orange for his... they are pretty girly, but he's 4, he can get away with it:)

I also made a couple pair of super soft fleece pants for Everest and my cousins little girl. I've had scraps of this fabric for a long time and once made a blanket out of it. Sewing with little ones around is challenging, but I'm hoping to try more often. These pants were so easy and quick to make, and K has a long list of requests!

Christmas is on it's way and I better get knittin'....
Have a beautiful day:)

WIP Wednesday!!

The long lost sock... I made this sock a few years ago and never made a partner, so I think they may become a Christmas present to myself this year:)

Kylans socks, almost done...

And a project for the road. We are leaving this morning to drive down to Southern California to visit our families and to celebrate Kylans 4th Birthday:) I'm hoping I can knit in the car without getting car sick, we'll see:)

WIP Wednesday!!

Work-In-Progress Wednesday!
This has been kind of a weird week. I have a list of projects to get done before Kylans birthday and Christmas. Somehow I ended up working on two things not on that list!!
The first, I call 'tossing pillows'. Kylan has a habit of throwing things he shouldn't, as I assume most children his age do. When he is throwing some hard wooden toy, I can hand him this as a substitute, rather then constantly telling him not to throw things over and over. He loves them and wants more. They are simply made with felt and stuffed with wool. The main reason I wanted to make them is to practice my hand stitching, which I am awful at. So, I plan on doing more little crafts like this so I can improve! I've seen some beautiful hand stitched projects lately, and I have to start somewhere:)

The second project I started is a bit random as well. I wanted to start a knit toy for Kylan's birthday, but my printer was being difficult and I was having trouble finding the time to fix it. I wanted to start something simple that I can do while I watch the boys play outside. I went into my yarn cupboard and the boys, of coarse, came running. Kylan grabbed this yarn and told me he wanted socks made out of this for Christmas! So, socks he will get:) I love this self striping yarn:)

Thanks for looking!

WIP Wednesday!! (on thursday)

Work in progress Wednesday...a little late. I just started a couple quick easy projects, not much to look at yet, I'll post photos next week:0

I finished Kylans sweater:)

The pattern for their sweaters was super easy! It is from the book Charmed Knits :) First sweaters I've completed. I have a tendency to alter patterns and didn't realize the importance of checking my gauge, but after a couple failed attempts at baby sweaters were my gauge was way off, I always check it!!

Thanks for looking!

WIP Wednesday!!

I am almost done with Kylans sweater. I will post pictures of it on him when I finish. This week I started something for myself. Something with big chunky yarn and needles that I can finish quick! It's kind of like a bonnet, it's a free pattern called Fall Fling Hat. I love it, the yarn is plumy and very soft. Kylan loves it and wants me to knit him a bonnet:) Actually, now that he understands I can knit him things he has a whole list of requests!

I couldn't get a great picture of the cupcake! I ended up making a few because the pattern was not turning out right. This one looks most like a cupcake! They are pretty quick to make, so at some point I'll make a few more...

WIP Wednesday!!

I joined the WIP Wednesday group (Work in Progress Wednesday) where crafters share what they are currently working on. I'm not much of a photographer, but I tried to get pictures of what I've been up to. I have a little problem of starting to many things at once. This week was no exception. I need to finish Kylans sweater. It's a very simple pattern and I only have one arm and the neckline left to do... stitch it all up and I'm done. I'm having a little trouble getting back into this project...

I'm using a super soft organic color grown (undyed) cotton. There is a creamy white and soft sage green twisted together. He is very excited about his sweater, I need to get it done!!!

Then I started some cupcakes. Yes, cupcakes. I wanted to start knitting some play food for Kylan's kitchen, but have had trouble finding patterns and I happened to have this cute little cupcake pattern in the book One Skein. I'm not happy with the yarn I used for the top, so I am planning on knitting a few cupcake bottoms, then I'll head on down to the yarn shop to get some fluffy white yarn to make the 'frosting':)

I finished Kylan's Halloween Hat, he loves it! Orange is his favorite!

I recently made this hat, actually I made two. One for Kylan and a smaller one for a friend who is having a baby boy this month. It's made with Frog Tree Brand baby alpaca, so soft!
Thanks for looking:)

comfy little sweater

I adore this child!

I recently finished knitting Everest this sweater. I used color-grown (un-dyed) organic cotton. It's so soft and a little big on him, should keep him nice and warm on our chilly autumn mornings! I'm working on Kylan's and should have it done soon. I'm hoping to stitch a little design on the front, maybe a star or animal, but I am horrible at hand stitching, so I'll have to practice a bit first!

New hat, new hat...

Although it has been very hot lately, I have been knitting winter items! I took a break from knitting Kylan's sweater to make a few hats. Here's Kylan's newest addition-
